Hybrid Process for Object Development

We were asked to develop some ornamental flames and columns/capitals for a residence south of San Francisco. We used new technology in conjunction with old technology to achieve the intent successfully.

A wine rack

Our studio/shop is so close to wine country that we HAD to rethink the wine rack. Our take on a sensual and kinetic wine display object. Hot rolled steel, with some elegant plasma cut ribs in the back.

Stair as object

The steel components assembled into a graceful and kinetic stair. It's one of those projects that works on several levels. It's simple in components and minimal in assembly. Structurally it is super stable. Visually, as you are able to walk around it, it becomes a sculptural piece. On to the next thing...

Here you see the simple pieces for the stair project we are designing and fabricating for our office. Simple idea, but the execution will be even better. Plasma cut and bent treads/risers and a steel pipe.
